History of Founder.
John McDonald is an Australian who was called of God to the USA and has been home ever since. During his time in the US, he has acted as an interim pastor of a COTN church in Virginia during 2002, as well as being active in teaching across the country.
John’s journey toward ministry began at the age of 9 when he recognized that the Lord was calling him into fill-time work for His Kingdom. He was baptized in water and into the Holy Spirit at the age of 12. Throughout his early teens he was involved in various forms of Christian service, including Sunday School teacher, Youth leader, Youth Pastor,
From the beginning of those teen years he gravitated to leaders and would silently listen to them. Only recently he understood his service in the Australian armed forces, conscripted in 1966 – 68, he was placed in the Catering Corps, as personal chef for his Battalion Commander, then within the Officers Mess. Giving leaders the nourishment to be able to function in their service. The correlation in the spiritual realm is that he has been conscripted to feed leaders in the body of Christ the Spiritual food to enable them to fulfill their calling.
In 1981, John graduated from the Commonwealth Bible College [AOG] now Southern Cross Bible College. Graduating in 1981 with a Diploma in Bible and Christian Ministries. In 1994 He graduated from Harvest Bible College with BA in Biblical Studies [Theology]
Until his departure for America, John had planted and pastored three churches in Australia.
It was during the illness of His wife, Jan, that the Lord began to take him on a journey of re-discovering the Kingdom. The more he studied the Biblical understanding of the kingdom, the more his thinking was challenged. It became a foundation of his teaching.
Coming to the US, he was directed of the Lord to focus on ‘revival’ and so began to teach from that perspective. It was in 2003 that the Lord began to get him to refocus on the Kingdom; also at the same time, he confessed his failure to accepting his apostolic call.
At that moment, things changed even though he knew at an early age that he had an apostolic calling; [although that is not what is was called back then] he would not accept it due to seeing so much ‘leadership abuse’ in the church.
It was early 2004 that a joint statement was issued from the prophetic elders. Although it was not a personal prophetic word, it was confirming the direction I was going. The one passage that was confirmation was this: God is now raising up Apostles and Prophets who will bring fresh revelation of the Kingdom of God.
John has leaders who look to him for counsel because they want to tap the depth of wisdom and knowledge God has given him. He is considered a mentor and a spiritual father.
Church planting passion, whilst being on the back burner for some years, is being stirred again. There are two reasons he believes this is so.
Firstly, to build a new model others can be part of. A model that raises sons to go and build their own ministry and churches, and for those who have an apostolic call, their own resource centers. I believe a true 1st Century model for the 21st Century Church.
Secondly, having a successful model that others can use enlarges the sphere of one’s influence and has a more effective home base to help other servants of the Lord. When we are focused on the kingdom, we recognize the body of Christ, no matter what name tag one has on the door.
And so we welcome you to study this material; if it strikes a chord in your heart, we invite you to begin the journey of building a relationship with us.
That together we can walk in an abundant life, Kingdom style.
